Echuca Police Station
Beginning with a complete remediation of contaminated soils throughout the ground and the installation of 90 driven piles, CICG proceeded to construct a brand new, two-level, 24-hour police station.
The largest sector of the building, the 1,600m2 ground floor, houses 4 holding cells with 2 exercise yards, a sally port, general operations and store rooms. The first floor sitting above, measuring 710m2, is primarily used for administrative and recreational purposes. Extensive office space, a gym, locker rooms, a library and conference rooms were all included, along with an internal plant room measuring 85m2.
The materials used to construct the station were a combination of insitu concrete, structural steel and precast concrete. Clad externally with Exotec, the building includes various feature beams, trusses and screens all made from locally sourced, recycled spotted gum timber, adding style to the aesthetic.
Finally, external works were undertaken including an on-grade carpark, and an upgrade to the council reserve.
